Attorney
Amy G. Rice engages in the general practice of law. She focuses,
however, on civil litigation, DUI/refusals, real estate law,
business and equine law.
Attorney Rice was a Judicial Law Clerk with the Rhode Island Supreme
Court Law Clerk Department, in Providence where she conducted legal
research and wrote draft decisions for judges of the Superior,
Family, District and Traffic Courts. Prior to beginning her legal
career, she was employed as a Rhode Island Deputy Sheriff for over
ten years, where she served in the Supreme, Superior, Family,
District, Worker’s Compensation Courts and the General Assembly.
Attorney Rice is a member of the American Bar Association, the Rhode
Island Bar Association the Rhode Island Woman’s Bar Association, the
Newport Bar Association, the Rhode Island Trial Lawyers Association,
the Environmental Law Committee and the Justinian Law Society.
Attorney Rice has been admitted to practice before state and federal
courts in Rhode Island. She has also been admitted to practice Pro
Hac Vice in Palm Beach County, Florida and the Northern District of
Illinois.
Attorney Rice received a B.A. degree phi sigma alpha from the
University of Rhode Island, a B.A. degree cum laude from Salve
Regina University where she also earned a Master’s Degree in
Administration of Justice. She received her Juris Doctor degree from
Suffolk University School of Law.
Attorney Rice was appointed as a Justice of the Peace where she
serves the District Court as Bail Commissioner in Second
Division/Newport County, Rhode Island.
Attorney Rice served as a Town Councilor for the Town of Portsmouth
from 2002-2004, and was elected to her second term as a state
representative in 2006 where she sits on the Judiciary and
Environment committees.
